Do you have a passion for dance? Sign up for our Intermediate and Advanced dance classes. Beginning dance is for our 10th graders and up. Does not require an audition.

The Carlmont Dance Program is an exciting educational component of CHS comprised of beginning classes, one intermediate and one advanced production classes. Over 200 students are served each year through the standards based curriculum which meets the wide spectrum of experience in our dance community.
Our dancers gain from our program:
-Appreciation for the world of dance arts.
-Movement technique in multiple genres of dance styles.
-Performance opportunities to showcase their talents and skills.
-Camaraderie of fellow students who have the same interests and passion in dance.
-Opportunities to work with industry professionals in Master Class experiences.
High School Students receive Performing Arts and PE Credits. Most students are enrolled in the program all 4 years of their High School career.

Beginning Dance explores various genres of dance including but not limited to ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, tap, african, bhangra, latin, and polynesian dance. In each unit students learn basic technique, steps, and choreography that is performed in class. In addition, students learn the general history of dance and basics of dance
Beginning Dance explores various genres of dance including but not limited to ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, tap, african, bhangra, latin, and polynesian dance. In each unit students learn basic technique, steps, and choreography that is performed in class. In addition, students learn the general history of dance and basics of dance composition which prepares them to choreograph an original dance piece at the end of the year. After completing the course, students gain a greater understanding of dance as an art form and as a worthwhile physical activity.

Intermediate Dance studies deepen the technical dance skills of students, offers a variety of school wide and community performance opportunities, further explores the dynamics of dance composition, and provides students experience with the technical elements of dance.
Students perform in 3 staged performances and learn the Thriller Dance.

Advanced Dance is very elevated in technical dance skills of students, offers a variety of school wide and community performance opportunities, further explores the dynamics of dance composition, and provides students experience with the technical elements of dance.
Students perform in 3 staged performances, Homecoming, and Scotsland.

Ms. Roxanne Seliger has been dancing for years and teaching dance for 30 years! She began dancing at the age of 4 with Ballet and Tap in Southern Illinois. She earned a Bachelors of Art in Theatre Arts, Dance, and English with her California Teaching credential. While dancing and acting in Los Angele, she acquired her Screen Actors Guild membership. After her professional career, Ms. Seliger was a dance teacher at Bayside Middle School for the Arts in San Mateo, CA and Thomas Edison Charter Academy in San Francisco, CA. Ms. Seliger is now is very happy to be teaching the wonderful advanced and Intermediate Dance students at Carlmont high school and owns Coastside Dance School LLC in Pacifica and Daly City, CA.
